UBT Professors Musa Sabedini and Ferid Selimi Publish a Scientific Article in a SCOPUS-Indexed Journal
An important academic achievement has been marked by the professors of the Faculty of Media and Communication at UBT, Prof. Musa Sabedini and Prof. Ferid Selimi, who have published a scientific article in the multidisciplinary academic journal Architectural Image Studies, indexed in SCOPUS.
The article, titled “Misinformation and the Use of Emotional Language in Albanian-Language Media in Kosovo: A Comparative Analysis of the March 2004 Riots and the September 2023 Banjska Attack,” examines how Albanian-language media in Kosovo reported on interethnic tensions and violent events, providing a comparative analysis between the March 2004 riots and the September 2023 Banjska attack.
The study explores both the quantitative aspects of media coverage and the emotional language used in reporting, through a content analysis of major national newspapers.
“This publication represents an important professional and personal milestone for me. Although I have long understood that scientific research requires patience, dedication, and deep expertise, this experience has reaffirmed that hard work and academic collaboration yield tangible results. I am extremely pleased that our work has been recognized and appreciated at this level, and I believe this is only the beginning of even stronger publications in the field of journalism and communication,”
said Professor Musa Sabedini.
The findings reveal that, although the media extensively covered these events, significant differences were observed in the style of reporting, the proportion of coverage dedicated to interethnic violence, and the use of emotional or inflammatory language.
The authors conclude that historical, cultural, and political factors, as well as the lack of institutional coordination, influence journalistic practices – highlighting the need for responsible journalism in contexts with ethnic sensitivity.
The article was published on November 1, 2025, in Vol. 6, No. 3 of the journal, and is available online at the following link: Full article.https://journals.ap2.pt/index.php/ais/article/view/354
